Surfaces
So it's always fun to add a bit of color to a previously carved tile or to hold a loaded brush very lightly against a stamped texture and watch the color flow into the form like a natural puddle. I hope everyone's having as much fun at work....but I do think I'm lucky that way.
Raised in my mother's studio and my grandfather's workshop in rural Chatham County, Georgia, I had freedom to explore and create with a wonderful variety of materials. We looked at art in museums and beauty in nature. We listened. My mother knew many other artists who also kept a reverent sense of wonder. I am thankful for my teachers in life and in schools: Drew University (BA English), the University of Georgia. (MFA, Printmaking), the Penland School of Craft, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort where I am an Assistant Professor of Art teaching Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing and Design.
