Cups and Bird Bowls
Bird Bowl
I made flocks of bird bowls for sale at the Jepson Center and spent a lovely day in the lobby of this amazing building - designed by Moshe Safdie -hawking my wares.....(pun intended, except that my birds are vegetarian).
And here's one of the finished cups.....with a little underglaze decoration.
Beautiful Joanna! I love the cup--- I subscribe to a blog called Contemporary Art Daily, which like yours shows up on my blogger page, and like yours shows up with a little image of the new blog... So I saw your little image and thought it was Contemp Art Daily and said to myself, "oh there is finally something beautiful to look at in the Art World Daily these days!" But it turned out the Art World is still hawking (no pun intended) ugly stuff (-;
Raised in my mother's studio and my grandfather's workshop in rural Chatham County, Georgia, I had freedom to explore and create with a wonderful variety of materials. We looked at art in museums and beauty in nature. We listened. My mother knew many other artists who also kept a reverent sense of wonder. I am thankful for my teachers in life and in schools: Drew University (BA English), the University of Georgia. (MFA, Printmaking), the Penland School of Craft, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort where I am an Assistant Professor of Art teaching Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing and Design.
