Dreams of flying returned after a wonderful Yoga class last Saturday. Sometimes the prints I make when demonstrating for a class become images I like better than the ones I plan and labor over. Serendipity is lovely. Dreamlike. Up-lifting.
Raised in my mother's studio and my grandfather's workshop in rural Chatham County, Georgia, I had freedom to explore and create with a wonderful variety of materials. We looked at art in museums and beauty in nature. We listened. My mother knew many other artists who also kept a reverent sense of wonder. I am thankful for my teachers in life and in schools: Drew University (BA English), the University of Georgia. (MFA, Printmaking), the Penland School of Craft, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort where I am an Assistant Professor of Art teaching Ceramics, Printmaking, Drawing and Design.
